Calling hours tool

Can I call now?

Pick the state you are calling into and the called person's time zone. The tool checks the federal 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. window and the state window from its statute, right now.

Right now, state by state

Checked in each state's main time zone every minute. Tap a state for its full rules, exemptions and sources. General information, not legal advice.

How the tool decides

Federal rules bar telephone solicitations to residential subscribers before 8 a.m. or after 9 p.m., local time at the called person's location. Many states set a narrower window of their own, and some cover only certain calls, such as calls made with automated dialing devices. The tool shows a call as inside the windows only when the time falls inside the federal window and, where the state sets one, inside the state window for that day. It does not know about holidays, consent you hold, or exemptions that apply to your calls, so read the state page before you rely on it.
